Stupid Argument about Public Holidays

I always complain bout anything, everything.

My hubby thinks I complain too much and I just cannot stop. But it is the only way out to vent my views, anger and destress.

Yesterday me boss and I was talking about public holidays. He said he's gonna take the X'mas week off! I'm so happy cos I'm gonna be working and I can be left alone. And he said I can leave early on the eve like after 2pm. Then I said next holiday will be Australian Day.

Then we had this stupid argument.

I said, since Australian Day falls on a weekend, then we sure have a day off on Monday, which is logical. Then he said "NO, they won't give us a holiday because they can't put Australian Day on a Monday when it is not supposed to be Monday?" and he gave me this stupid smile on his face and asked me "Ha, err, how long have you been in Australia?"

And I was honestly pretty upset becos this has nothing to do with how long I've been here. It felt like an insult. Then I said "Oh is it, that's strange? That means we gonna have 9 public holidays instead of 10 just because Australian Day falls on a weekend?" And quickly google it while he went on preaching.

HAHA, and I was right. And now my turn "err.. it says on the govt website that we gonna have Monday off?"

He replied " Oh they must have changed it. We never had that before"

ANYONE OUT THERE WHO WORKS IN GOVT, PLEASE TELL ME IF THEY REALLY DID CAME OUT WITH THIS STUPID PUBLIC HOLIDAY RULE JUST FOR AUSTRALIAN DAY?

*Trying to calm down*

Another topic: I'm trying to take 17 days off leave for my wedding next year. It is gonna be difficult cos I've only started my job. I've got a few bosses above me. Let's call them H and T. I emailed H about my leave. She replied saying that she's not sure what's happening to my contract after 4th Jan 08. When I already spoke to T that they will extend my contract till I get a permanent position. Annoying! Does anyone talk to anyone? Well, I'm just happy to go unpaid. I need this holiday. It will be for wedding in Singapore, honeymoon (so excited!) and Chinese new year (CNY).

Talking about CNY, I dragged spending CNY in Perth. It is just terrible and absolutely BORING. The only time I enjoyed it is when we had the celebration in Church. It feels alot of homely. There were home cooked food, cookies and Yu Sheng! My hubby's family doesn't really celebrate CNY. They do have their dinner which will be the same food for birthdays and gathering.

I craved for my Foochow fishballs, red wine chicken ( my dad makes his own wine ekeke), stir fried rice cakes, braised pork belly and chicken, special stir fried vegetables with leeks and etc. The thought of it makes me drool! And for CNY, we just eat all day. Maybe 5 meals a day haha. We used to visit a few families during CNY but we don't now. But my mum will still cook yummy food so still have the CNY feel.

So, I can't wait for my next visit to Singapore. Many great things will be happening!

Now, I will just sit around and count down.

New Look

My blog is forever changing its look.

My IT skills aren't very good. Most of the changes are done by using what blogger provides. Blogger has become alot simpler to use.

I'm trying to change the colour of my chatbox. Lindy has gone to Dubai. Can anyone else help me? I want to change the grey colour to purple. Why purple? I want my blog to match my phone.

Quick and Healthy dinner

Yesterday night I simply couldn't be bothered cooking dinner. But on the other hand, we both wanted something light. Hubby was happy to lose 1Kilo so I will not ruin it.

This is what we had yesterday:

Our main meal (Chicken sandwich with cheese)

Crunchy veg with hommus sauce

Greedy me attacking mango!

Our Bathroom

How beautiful are my new vanity?
I know it is very expensive and we bought it.

Recently we extended our bathroom. And this is how much we spent:

$7500 - extending bathroom including new timber flooring
$1000 - shower glass
$399 - WC
$1295 - Vanity (shown above, so pretty right?)
$695 - cabinet (shown above, money well spent. It's marble top!)
$1500 - tiles (federation tiles somemore hehe)
$600 - plumbing
$500 - electrical
$1500 - water heater
$500 - heated towel rail
$750 - heated floor

Total = you figure it out. After you calculate it, don't tell me. Don't message me. I don't want to know. But we all can't wait for it to be over. The bathroom will be so beautiful. I will be in it all day all night. I will sleep in there ahha. It would look better with bathtub but it is just not economical. We thought a bigger shower is what we really wanted. Hopefully I get to show all of you pictures soon!

Sick or what?

Sigh, I feel so depressed.

I've got so many things to do. But I just can't be bothered to do it.

For the past 2 days I took sick leave. I felt terrible. I had headache, tummy cramp, blocked nose, dizziness, nauseous and felt so lethargic. What is wrong with me?

The house is so dusty at the moment. My dear hubby is doing gyprock for the second room. It is alot of hard work. But I can see the walls forming and we are very happy.

As I mentioned, I've got heaps to do. I still got my wedding cards to do. I know once I start, it will be done quickly. But it's a pain when I don't have alot of information. I asked my in laws to give me the lists, they kept giving me people that they're not sure if they want to include them for dinner. ARGHH everyone so mafan.

I've got heaps of laundry to do. Now we can't use our washing machine because of reno. So we have to go to laundrymat to do it. The machines are quite gross. Also for dark coloured clothes, they always end up with white patches of detergent I think. I have to wash them again and again. It is $3 per wash. Not cheap cos no clean. Imagine sharing that with hundreds of strangers. I can't wait for the house to be all ready.

Yesterday the Uncle Clive came to do plumbing. Sigh, nothing's done. Except he put up the new water heater. You know the water heater is like $1500. Mad right? We bought one of the best. Really luxurious man. We gonna live in the house forever. One day we gonna have a spa in the backyard!! ahha

Today I'm back to work. Still I've got nothing much to do.

DIY - Gyprock

My poor hubby is working on the house right now. It is nearly 12 am. He is doing gyprock for the room.

I know people might be thinking why we are doing it ourselves. Or rather himself.

One of our room, we called it second room was filled with wallpaper. The plaster beneath are all falling apart. I mean literally, turning into ashes. Some parts are alright. We got a professional to get a quote. And this is what we got:

Walls and ceiling for one room: $5000.

To DIY: max $500

WHY WOULD I PAY $5000? Got money also wont spend it like that.

I can describe the job in simple words. It is basically apply glue (plaster glue), paste the gyprock and nail it. But because my ceiling is 3m. Normal ceiling is 2.4m. The problem lies with getting the last gyprock up the top wall. We need a big kingkong to do that. If not someone really tall or someone daring enough to climb up the ladder and put it up.

This is what hubby achieved so far:

Streets of East Victoria Park

Rarely we have visitors at home. Today a family from church came to visit us together with my in laws. They wanted to have a look at the house. Afterwhich, they all parked their cars at our backyard and walked to the street events along East Victoria Park.

I remembered it was a year ago that we attended this event. Time really flies. This event is more for kids but I still enjoyed it. There were mini rides, face painting, food and more food. I love my suburb. We are so close to so many things. And it's great to start a family in this area. We bought a yummy lemon merigue cupcake. It was so moist and yummy.

Later we went to Izumi for dinner. The pancake (chicken or seafood) is a must try. Izumi is located along Albany Highway, opp Park Central.

New Bed!!

It's Saturday. We are out early for our furniture shopping.

Hubby has been going out searching for bed. He doesn't like the one at Freedom, the one I chose. Yes I do agree that the black cast iron bed is abit flimsy. Anyway he bought this before showing it to me. I had to say "ok" yesterday becos the guy is giving us big discount. $1390 for the bed (without mattress and bedsides). Are we mad? But it looks really grand. Honestly after the house is done, I don't think we need to go for holidays. The house looks like luxurious, grand and elegant.

Next we have to look for mattress. We went to Bed Gallery. Honestly I don't know much about bed. It is all about budget. We managed to get one king size for about $1300 and two pillows for another $140. The bed is so yummy (that's what the sales lady said). And it is. When we sat on it, it was soft (we were going for harder matt) but when we laid on it, awww... it was really yummy. It wasn't soft at all. It has great support and very little partner disturbance - i.e. when one turns, you can't feel the bed movement. Which is a good selling point becos I do turn alot hehe.

So $2500 gone like that over the weekend. But it was good buy, and still bought it at our budget.

I'm back!

Hello!

Yes I haven't been blogging because

1) internet was down. I'm with ii net now. Goodbye Telstra you suck
2) I was in Singas for 8 days! Love it love it!

Got heaps of back dated posts coming soon.

At the meantime, I'm getting used to the hot sunshine. I went out for lunch earlier, I can almost feel my freckles developing, my skin darkening, and the heat on my head. ARghh..

Oh, I'm beginning my proper diet for wedding. ABIT LATE RIGHT? Well, for a start, I had salad for lunch and shared with Fred. Sigh, ordered salad still must share. But I feel good, at least I'm avoiding chips!

I'm so frikken sleepy now. Not enough sleep!! And the sun is not helping at all.

Singapore Trip: Day 7

Today's such a lazy day. It was rainy but it didn't bother me much.

Lindy is going to Perth today and she was super grumpy. The flight is going to be so tiring. Hopefully I will still get to see her at airport when I returned to Perth tomorrow evening. We took her to airport and then went to Giant to check out the red wine. The price was good and we managed to get 2 cartons too.

My auntie and grandpa came over today to visit me. What really makes the day was my dear cousin finally came to meet me! He came over with his friend and surprised all of us! He is super skinny now and I think we haven't met for over a year?

After all went home, we went to Mustafa to get some pens (the stationery in Perth are very expensive). Mmmm, also managed to have my noodles for supper! Seriously I ate alot of noodles during this trip. But no regrets. Go back to Perth and then I'll start my diet.

Because Lindy was away, I had to sleep alone. Mummy and Daddy came over to sleep with me. It was really strange, considered that I'm so old now. I think they just miss me very much. It felt nice.

Sigh, the trip is going to end in hours. I had this feeling when I used to visit Fred in Perth. Now it is the other way round. How many times do I have to feel like this? This feeling is going to follow me for years! I hope things will become better, as in tickets will become even cheaper, or maybe I struck lottery, then we all won't feel the burden of buying air tickets. Ahh... one day maybe...

Singapore Trip: Day 6

Happy birthday Lindy. I felt terrible. I never buy you anything for your birthday! What was I thinking??

Lindy brought me to Changi Hospital today. We met up with James to get his stitches out. Damn hospitals got so many criminals. I didn't bother much cos I was having this stupid fight with Fred.

At night there wasn't any birthday cake, no big celebrations. We ended up having dinner at home cos that was what Lindy wanted. It was great. Home cooked food. Nothing's better than that.

Singapore Trip: Day 5

Lindy and I met up with our cousins. I am so looking forward to it.

Unfortunately only one of them turn up. But it was great becos this dear cousin of mine who turned up, brought his gf too. They are such a cute couple. Hao and Jess, they are only 19 I think. They have been going out for over 3 years! Both totally different people, I guess that's why they blend in so well together.

We had lunch at York restaurant. The food was ok. I didn't take note of it. I was enjoying their company. I haven't met them for so long and I never really met Jess before. The last time i met her was at my granny's wake. She was still in sec school! Time really flies.

We simply ate all day. We did a walk round Orchard and then ate again at Toast box. Took a snap short of them haha. I hope they won't kill me for the photo below. I think they look really cute.

In the evening, I met up with my Uncle & family. They are coming over to my Perth wedding. I'm really excited. It is gonna be weird hehe. We went to this Jap restaurant at this building. I think it was the Income tax building. The sushis were only 99c! The place was pretty good. I will go back there again when I return to Singapore in Jan 08.

We were checking out each other's mobile. Apparently we all have sony ericson! Even my auntie has one. My auntie took one pic for us. That's me cousin B on the left, my mum and myself.

Singapore Trip: Day 4

I tried really hard not to eat so much last night. Cos' today I have to do my final measure for my gown. I got my album too. Really happy with the results! I can't wait to show everyone on the wedding.

After leaving the studio, I was super hungry! I couldn't wait to meet Lindy and James. James cooked Lindy birthday lunch. So sweet right? Even better, I get to have a share too!! I had potato salad with tuna, salmon, pork and beef!! Ok, the thought of it makes me drool. I'm so greedy. Lindy is so fortunate. Where in the world can anyone find a man to cook anymore? Some more it is gourmet food.

Though my Freddy cannot cook such meals, he cooks the best breakfast. I mean the best! :)

After hours of walking around, infact it was only after 3 hours (max). We went to eat again. We were going to have pasta. But it seems too filling. I guess we just wanted something light. Lindy was pretty tempted to eat at this place that serves

But we ended up at this Pepper steak place. It's a Jap fast food. Pretty exxy but the food was not bad. It was also quite fun cooking it.

Singapore: Day 3

Today I spent alot of time with my parents. I really enjoyed being driven around, especially my dad driving. You know for 50 years, dad never had a car, never had a driver's license, never talk about driving. He was nagged (by my mother of cos) for not having one. My mother loves to nag about waiting times for taxi. Anyway, it seemed like a good timing of where they both are at now. What I mean is, my dad is semi retired (I refused to say he is retired, cos he is way too young), and my mum enjoying my dad's company (I supposed, they argue damn alot in public, so embarrassing, but it's just the way they communicate). Anyway I love the fact that dad is driving.

Ok back to what we did today. I managed to visit my 2nd uncle at simlim. Also bought my 1GB card at a bargain SGD$37! It was like $70+ 5 months ago?

Afterwhich we had our lunch at the food court. Noodles with alot alot of pork lard!

Later, we went to Choa Chu Kang (I think) where my grandparents are buried. This is my dad's parents. We haven't been there for years, or rather I haven't been there for years. My sister told me that this was one of the first place they went after they gotten the car. My dad really misses his parents or rather he really wanted so much to visit them. But the place where they are buried was simply too far. Also we used to go with our uncles because one of them has a car. But due to work and the kids were growing up, we just finding excuses to visit the graveyard. My dad even bought oranges one time. You know, in time to come, we cannot visit them like that anymore. The govt now only allows a certain period of time for buried bodies. They will later dig it all out and put it all in urns.

In the evening, we went to Toa Payoh. After dinner I requested to visit my Grandparents old place. It was this flat where they rented from Government. It was one bedroom flat.

The place has changed so much. In fact, it was the surroundings. This was one of the first few places my family visited once they had to car. I remembered when I was young, we used to come over often. The flat was very small. But I believed we enjoyed the cosyness and the times where our parents played mahjong till late. We kids just played outside the corridor and in the small lounge area. My grandma would cook the yummiest Pork Belly and of cos with other dishes.

My mum and I went to the floor where they used to live. The flat is now tiled and an elderly couple lived there. The flat seemed cleaner but I tell you, the elevator is just terrible. It just smells like urine. Ok I shan't go there.

Today is such a fruitful day. I managed to visit these places and really made me think alot. Seriously, treasure what you have and enjoy every moment. When you recall them, you can still smile about it.

Singapore Trip; Day 2 Happy Birthday to ME

One of the purposes to return to Singapore is to celebrate my birthday with family. I don't remember spending the past few years birthdays with my family. So this year felt special. We had dim sum at our all time fav Yan Ge (in Chinatown).
Warning: The following pictures will make you super hungry :P

Ok maybe not the following picture. I looked too greedy.

Oh did you notice the two waitresses standing there? THEY CAN'T STOP CHATTING! I am not against Chinese nationals but they just simply talking too loud, too fast and damn annoying!

In the evening Lindy got me a cake. Honestly I'm not a choc cake fan. But the one she bought from Four Leaves was awesome. I'm waiting for my dad to send me some pictures we took.

I also met up with my gfs. They are funny as usual, forever so comical! They thought I had a boob job which was funny. The only reason it looks bigger is because I grew fatter.

A couple of pics we took.

Singapore Trip: Day 1

Today Lindy went out with me. We took the cab. It was quite funny, Lindy looked like a pro to take a cab without letting parents know. We even planned on how to react if we see them.
Well, becos it is a very short trip, I have to buy all the things I needed. And so, I spent like a grand on the first day. This is what I bought

1) SKII masks x 3
2) Fake lashes x too many (a trend in Singapore and everyone is wearing it!)
3) Shoes (only bought two pairs)
4) Two bridesmaid dresses (at a bargain! Luckily listened to Lindy, not to tailor made)
5) Mac - One blusher & Black eyeshadow
6) Shine (perfume for a friend)
This is one of the shoes I bought. IT IS ONLY $9.90!!! Dirt cheap!
Not bad for the first day!

We went to a coffee shop to have fish horfun for dinner. So yummy!
I borrowed Lindy's lil pouch to put my new handphone. And this sushi keychain freaked me out. I looked so real. I only realised it when I was looking for the pouch in my bag and I was wondering what was this sushi doing there??

Lindy's James had his wisdom tooth op. And she bought these for him. You know baby food is really bland. Well it was very sweet to see how they treat each other. Lindy offering the baby food to James and James enjoying every mouthfood of bland food. HAHAHA.. cute couple!

Hello Singapore

I am super excited! Since migrated to Perth, I usually return to Singapore with hubby. But today I'm back on my own! HAAHHA.. Freedom!

I took Tiger, super cheap flight - AUD$400! Must book early!

Experience:
I have to compare with Qantas, cos the service is SOOOO much better!! I love Tiger. The stewardess are alot of more friendly. They actually helped the passengers to move the luggage! They really don't have to do that. But only thing is, no blanket. So don't be like me, wear tube top to plane. Luckily got long hair to cover my shoulders.

Next to me were two locals. They were on the bigger size. So, I saw them sit until very uncomfortable. Sigh, really pity them. I heard that next time bigger pax have to buy two seats. So bad right!!!

My poor family waited for me till 4am!! I know they are very tired, especially my sista who just came back from KL on the same day. But they still smiled at me with excitement when they saw me! So happy!! He He

New phone! K770I

What's been going on

Firstly my baby doves:

It is the hardest ever, to feed baby doves.

I got my neighbour to take the birds out of their nest. The parents seem to have abandon them.

Yesterday I rushed to the pet shop to get them baby food. I also bought a syringe for feeding. And I thought it will be so easy like the video I saw on youtube. Just do a search feeding doves you will see it.

Well, it was really difficult to open their beak. Like they just don't want to eat and they do poo alot!!!!! I hope they won't starve honestly. We tried to force open their beak and squirt the food down their throat. It was like almost impossible.

This morning I had to wake up early to feed them. Sigh, not much success.

Going to another topic:

Caught up with my cousin khrys. I had to complain to her what her bro said to me, which was put me off alittle. Also told her that I met her long lost friend N. I had a few chat with her on FB and I really thought she changed alot. They fell out years over some bad dream that came through. It is abit silly but we always get upset over silly things anyway. So I hope they do made up and the funny thing is, both of them are in Melbourne now. I mean, N went to London over 10 years ago, who knows that she has migrated to Melbourne and happily married for over 2 years. Hope N replies me with her mob number and I can quickly give it to khrys.

Next topic:

Talking about my boss. Sometimes he is not as bad after all. As long as he offers me food ahhaha. He brings me the most delicious muffin I ever had. And it is super healthy. No salt, almost no fat, almost 2 grain of sugar. It has olive oil instead of butter. And it really just dissolves in your mouth and leaves the "buttery" after taste which is weird because like I mentioned, it is olive oil. So far, that's the only good thing about working here. Get free muffin, low fat and healthy :)

The World

I totally hate the world I'm in now.

I hate to read the news. It's always bad news. Nothing good at all.

War, terrorists, soldiers dying, poverty, rich men commiting crimes, teachers dating with students, padeophiles, crazy muthaf**kers killing the innocence, increasing interest rates for stupid reasons, pop stars going nuts, politicians who claim to fight for the country, starving kids in developing countries, poor babies born without limbs or HEAD and the list goes on.

Honestly, what is wrong with everyone? Too rich also got problem, too poor also got problem, creating problems when there is no problems! It is very disturbing to see people becoming confused and commit crimes and all that sh*t.

Ok why the hell am I talking about all these craps? Because every morning at work I would read the news (to keep myself busy). It is just very depressing to start your morning.

Recently this new reporter died. I always watched the news, or at least most nights. She is very pretty and young. She didn't die of illness or anything but commited sucide. The news says that she was battling with depression and never wanted to burden her family and loved ones with her sickness. THEN SHE KILLED HERSELF! YOU KNOW EVERYONE WATCHES NEWS! WHAT MESSAGE IS SHE TRYING TO BRING ACROSS?? I was very sad at first cos she was one of my fav reporter (she's really quite pretty loh). Now that I think about it, I think more people are going to kill themselves because this is probably gonna give them the courage.

Please, do not do that. You came to this world for a reason. It is a matter of time. If you cannot take the shit around you anymore, then find something to do. At least you tried. The world is in a pretty bad shape but I guess it makes you stronger in some ways.

Be thankful I guess.

I remembered I read this email, it was really meaningful. It went something like, if you think you had a bad day, be thankful you woke up alive. There were like 20 phrases or those, if I find that email I'll post it out.

Ok enough of preaching, back to work.

Deprived of Asian Music

Ever since living in Perth, I have totally lost touch with all the asian music, tv variety shows, movies, new tv dramas, lots of authentic asian food and many more!

But no I'm not unhappy or anything but if I really do have all that on TV, I would become a couch potato very soon.

Anyway my cousin's gf was really nice. She sent me so many songs!!! I don't really care whether they are outdated or not but I still like them.

Seriously Jay Chou is still my favorite. And now that I recalled, I did attend one of his concerts in Singapore! And that was like the only concert I went. I mean in terms of pop stars.

Enough of music, time for bed. Had a war with my printer!! Bloody ink!!

Day 7

See how big they have grown! Compared to day 3. The nest is just too small for them. I think very soon, they will be able to fly but not far. Might see them around the nest, probably on the ground.

Wedding @ Matilda Bay

We attended a wedding at Matilda Bay. It was beautiful weather! Unfortunately we didn't get to see the ceremony!! Why? Because we got lost!! It was terrible. We drove up and down along the bay till we finally saw a group of people (which obviously looked like a wedding going on there). We were so tired, especially me, I wasn't wearing walking shoes!!

Crazy Reno

This was the back door.
This was the bathroom + toilet.

This is the mess!

I PASSED!! I PASSED!!

I'm so happy!! After learning for 5 years (so paisey '_'), I finally passed my driving practical!!!

I've got FULL SCORE on the paper!!

I'm so happy!!! I went to City West Driving Centre at 8:10am, my test was at 8:45am. Yes, super kiasu. Then Fred had to "bomb", make me more anxious! But I tried to act cool, cos I know the more I panick, the higher chances of failure. Anyway the examiner name was BILLY. Please look our for him! He is like the nicest examiner ever! He was so cool, kept on talking to me so that I will not think that this was a test. Totally relax!!

Anyway I passed and I have to repeat that I'm really happy!! I'm still on 'L's becos' there'll be another hazard perception test (theory) which shouldn't be that bad. And I'd have to clock 25 hours of driving and I can drive on freeway which makes things heaps easier!! I think I will drive to Pemberton and catch some trouts tonight!! I'm so happy!! When my family comes over at least I can drive them, I don't have to rely on Fred. So happy loh.. Ok enough of saying I'm happy.

But I can't help it !!!

Alright, going for morning tea. (Good life right, come to work late, still got morning tea! ahha)

Cute lil babies
